A Chromebook is a type of laptop. It runs Google’s Chrome OS instead of Windows10 or Mac OS X. These devices are designed to be used primarily while connected to the internet, with most of the applications and documents living in the cloud. As a result, these clamshells don’t have very large price tags, either.
With its low price and long battery life, many people are considering a Chromebook. As Chromebooks run Chrome OS, Google operating system, they rely heavily on Google’s suite of applications and an active Internet connection. You can also log into the chrome OS as a guest, to have the better user experience. You can log in to the system using Google’s credentials. Because of its low price it is very popular among student. The best Chromebook 2017 is student friendly and it is adopted by most of the institutions too.
Chromebooks are mainly optimized for Google’s apps, such as Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Drive. Chromebook will be easy if you already use Google’s services for your email, calendar and documents but if you use some other popular services like Microsoft Outlook, AIM or Yahoo mail then it might take some time to get into the Google’s OS.
Unfortunately, some of the popular services like Adobe Photoshop and the Microsoft office suite are not available on Chromebooks. However, still, you can get your work done on these devices.
Using Google Drive, you can create everything from text documents to spreadsheets and presentations and all your Microsoft documents and PPT presentations can be directly imported into Google Drive allowing you to work on those files.
Apart from this, there are many photo editors available for Chrome OS, which includes the open-source GIMP image editor but there is no chrome OS app that can edit Adobe’s PDF files.
Chromebooks are designed for those who spend their most of the time on the internet so Chromebooks highly rely on the internet which means most of the apps won’t work if you are out of Wi-Fi range.
You would be able to play games on Chromebook but you will be limited to the titles available in the Chrome Web Store. Chromebooks generally have limited graphics processing power so even the low-quality games would not be played on Chromebook smoothly.
